Your care, together

Alongside your doctor

Acupuncture sits beside your medical care. It does not stand in for it.

If you see a doctor, a gynecologist or a sleep doctor, keep seeing them. I am glad to know what they have found, and you are welcome to tell them you are coming here.

If you haven't seen anyone about your sleep, please do before or while you come to me. Changed sleep can have causes that are easy to look for and worth finding.

See your doctor first

When sleep needs a doctor before it needs me

If any of these sound like you, please see your doctor first. Come to me afterward if you like.

  • Snoring with pauses in your breathing

Or waking gasping or with a headache. A doctor can test for sleep apnea.

  • Night sweats with weight loss

Sweats that soak the sheets, together with weight you did not mean to lose.

  • A low mood that is new or won't lift

A doctor or counselor can help. If you are in crisis, call or text 988.

  • Chest pain or a racing heart

Especially at night or with shortness of breath. Call 911 for pain that is sudden or severe.

  • Heavy bleeding, or any after menopause

Needs a doctor's look before anything else.

  • Legs that jerk or will not settle

Restless legs have causes, such as low iron, that are worth checking.

How we work together

Three things I ask of you

  • Bring a list of what you take

Medicines, hormone therapy, sleep aids and supplements. I write it down.

  • Tell your prescriber you are coming

A line at your next appointment is enough.

  • Keep taking what you are prescribed

Acupuncture does not change your medicines. Talk to your prescriber about any change.

What I share, and what I don't

Your visit notes stay with me. I don't write to your doctor, send them anything or ask for your records unless you ask me to and sign a release.

The contact form on this site asks only for how to reach you and when. It has no place for symptoms or conditions, and I ask you not to put medical details in a message. Those we talk about in the room.
