Ear seeds
Ear seeds are tiny seeds on small adhesive dots, pressed onto points on the outer ear. There are no needles. You press them yourself for a minute or two and wear them for a few days.
Who usually comes
Women who like the idea of a little something to do between visits, and women who would rather not have needles at all.
Services
What a visit is like, in order
- 01
Step 1: We choose the points
I look at your outer ear and choose a few spots, usually on one ear.
- 02
Step 2: I place the seeds
A seed on a small dot goes on each point. It feels like a gentle press.
- 03
Step 3: You learn to press
I show you where and how hard, so it is a minute or two and never sore.
- 04
Step 4: You wear them
Keep them dry and leave them in for a few days. They come off easily.
- 05
Step 5: We check in
At your next visit I look at how the skin did and decide whether to place new ones.
Before the needles
Tell me first
Six things that change how I treat you or whether I do. Say them even if they seem small.
If you are or might be pregnant
Some points are avoided in pregnancy. I ask you to check with your doctor or midwife first.
If you take a blood thinner
Or have a bleeding disorder. Needles can bleed a little more, so I take extra care or skip some points.
If you have a skin condition on the ear
Tell me about eczema or an infection and I skip that ear.
If you have had lymph nodes removed
Tell me which side. I keep needles and pressure off that arm.
If you react to tape or adhesive
Say so, and I use a different dot. Take the seeds off if the ear itches or turns red.
What you take
Medicines, hormone therapy, sleep aids and supplements. Bring a list, and tell your prescriber you are coming.
How many visits, and what this does not do
Ear seeds are usually part of a run of visits, not a stand-alone plan. I suggest how often at your visit and we change it as we go.
What you may feel afterward
A little tenderness where a seed sits, or a mild itch from the tape. Take a seed off if it bothers you.
What it does not do
It does not replace your doctor or your medicines. If your sleep has changed along with snoring with pauses in your breathing, night sweats with weight loss, a low mood that is new or chest pain, see your doctor first.
